Visit to Hampton Court Palace

The Chobham Academy Cultural Capital Research Project is a series of field trips to sites of cultural relevance in and around our beautiful capital city, London. Designed to develop a wider perspective of what learning can be and also stimulate an appreciation of how subjects such as Art, Dance, history and even Ecology can interrelate, the selected students embarked on their first field trip of the research project on Tuesday 14th May.

The visit to Hampton Court Palace proved a resounding success with both students and staff agreeing that they had an incredibly enjoyable and culturally rewarding day out in the sun.

Two of the students who attended the trip said the following -

Kinza – ‘I'd just like to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this amazing experience. It was a really nice, relaxed and calm day. The palace had amazing architecture, beautiful gardens and flowers and some gorgeous china. The art work in the galleries were really interesting as it was very different compared to the art I see more often e.g. more vibrant and more modern, so it was really interesting to see such art work that had completely different style and techniques. The architecture of the walls inside the galleries was also amazing, the walls had gorgeous designs as well as the frames of the art pieces and the stair cases, not forgetting the amazing ceiling windows we saw above one of the art galleries right before coming down from the 2nd floor. The water fountains and the vines were designed extremely well, making them really sink in with the environment of the palace. Not forgetting the china with the flowers inside, seems like an extremely elegant creation. And finally, I don't think there are many negatives about the trip as it was really relaxed and enjoyable. Once again thank you for the great opportunity’

Deborah – ‘I really liked the trip because it gave me a lot of historical insight and artistic out look to the grounds.’
