During this difficult time, Mandarin students have shown their continuous resilience but also curiosity in their weekly Mandarin learning. The learning packs shared with students are mainly PowerPoint slides along with video clips and Quizlet. This allows the students to have the freedom to practice pronunciation without their teachers which is a particular problem for foreign language learning. The packs and online materials also helps with learning vocabulary as it is presented in a fun way. Recently, the teachers in the Mandarin department have also been recording their voices over the slides using presentation mode to guide the students through their learning.

While the KS4 students are obviously focusing on the academic aspects of the subject, the KS3 students have shown real enthusiasm to not just learning new vocabulary but really getting stuck into the culture and using their creative talents.
