A-Level Art Neighbourhood Book-Exchange
Our A-Level Artists have been working in partnership with East Village Management to create public book-sharing library boxes. The aim is for local people to share their old books while promoting a sense of community, friendliness and general well-being. The benefits are no library cards to deal with, no endless rows of books to browse and no guilt in not returning something on time. Its as simple as it gets when it comes to promoting literacy at the most local level possible.
Chobham Design Technology GCSE Students worked in partnership with MACE to create the structure of the boxes and the decoration was curated by our A-Level team. The students decided to use previous students’ artworks to collage the boxes and then varnish to ensure they are waterproof.
The imagery on the boxes celebrates the diversity and creativity within our community. Vivid colours and patterns have been used to create an element of curiosity to passer-by’s hopefully attracting new potential readers.
Look out for them when your out and about and remember to add any old books that you have finished with!
