PE Department Update
Football Academy
This is the third year that the Football Academy has been run for at Harris Academy Chobham. This year the young men are being managed by Mr Wigington and supported by Mr Starkey, who focuses on their sports rehabilitation; Mr Okunja, who works on their technique and leadership skills and Mr Weston, who hones in on the students tactical abilities and teamwork. They have been training ferociously in preparation for their first game and we are excited to see what the 2020-2021 season holds.
U21s and U18s Westham Ladies Football Academy
We are proud to continue our partnership with Westham for a second year running. Due to the uptake of more dual career pathway students, we are also fortunate to have two teams; the U21s and U18s. The young women are balancing both football and education alongside one another.
PE at Harris Academy Chobham
Despite the difficulties of these unprecedented times, the students at Harris Academy Chobham continue to participate in sport with an enormous amount of enthusiasm. For this term, students are exposed to trampolining, netball, football and health related fitness. Deborah, a year 9 student, said “I love PE and I missed it so much during lockdown because I didn’t really exercise so much. I also missed my teachers and I’m glad to be back and work with other students to develop my leadership skills too.” As a department, we are focused on continuing to teach students about a healthy active lifestyle whilst having fun.
